Can We Talk ... Who Says Beauty is Defined by a Shade!

Beauty in most cultures is defined by the colour of the skin, a light skin means beautiful while a dark skin means ugly forcing women with no choice but to lighten their skin. Some call it bleaching while others prefer toning. The cream used to de-pigment the skin is a degrading standard of beauty and often contains mercury and hydroquinine, chemicals with tremendous side effects.

Meet the Melanin goddess, 19 year old French-Senegalese model Khodia Diop. She isn't just a fashion model but a body positive model, using her social media presence to celebrate and encourage black women all over the globe to embrace being different and to be happy about their melanin enriched skin.

She was nick named darky (daughter of the night) by her child hood bullies, but she didn't feel the need to conform to status quo by lightning her skin.
Khodia rose above it giving a strong attitude to black and proud, breaking the internet as an unconventional beauty, with her 379,000 followers on Istagram. @Melanin.goddess has a self-love message to share with the world with empowering hastags; #blackgirlsrock #MelaninOnFleek #BlackGirlMagic #Melaninpoppin.

Diop the body positive Nubian princess knows her skin is God given and is proud of it and has featured in the "Coloured" girl beauty campaign because of it, she has also featured in various international publications and runways from Paris to New York; proving that beauty and success is not limited to the colour of your skin.
